Seriously. It took us 20 minutes to cross a bridge today. No traffic, no bad weather, no accidents - just a long-ass bridge. It was a pretty stunning sight to pass over it at night (with the full moon out and the lunar eclipse building) but I'm really looking forward to seeing it by the light of day.
The mood varied from hungry to grumpy to awed to grumpy today as the magnitude of what we were attempting to achieve hit home. Just before we rolled into our third province of the day and saw that we had put 3000 km onto the van, we asked the question (for the 64th time), "What have we done?" The point was furthe

r re-inforced by the most terrifying, blunt sign that any of us had ever seen. These signs - in an attempt to continually raise your blood pressure and anxiety level - went on for about 15 km. They only ended when you got to the entirely new reason to feel anxious. You know, the giant bridge that runs through the ATLANTIC OCEAN and connects the continent of North America to a tiny island 20-30 km off the mainland. Un. Buh. Lievable.
The show was cool. A really nice turnout and two other really good acts (local boys, The Meds and a band from Montreal called Hot Springs). T

only strange thing was the reaction of the PEI crowd. They were attentitve, they were looking at us and listening but they rarely clapped after a song. It felt as though we were in a Frank Sinatra impersonator dinner theatre matinee and they were slightly annoyed that the music wasn't continuous enough for them to finish their dinner before clapping. We thought it was just us. And then the local boys got up - the band that most of the crowd came to see - and the crowd was just as attentive, non-plussed and quiet. I wondered if we'd had a bad show until I went to the bathroom. Apparently that's where business is conducted in Charlottetown, because I had 5 people tell me that we put on an incredible show as I urinated, washed my hands and attempted to slip out the door. Just a different culture, I guess.
