Just the Two of Us

And everyone else who loves rock and roll in Halifax.

Where to begin when talking about the official day 4 of the tour. We left Liverpool in the early afternoon with the intention of discovering the worlds first outhouse museum. Sadly, it was closed and we opted to head for Peggy's Cove just SW of Halifax. Our lovely friends Heather & Michael at the Mersey House had given us the parting gift of a contact (and subsequent show) in Halifax tomorrow night and imagine our surprise when the phone rang at @ 5 pm just before we took the highway turnoff to the cove. It was the nice fellow (Jason MacIsaac) who had found us a gig in Halifax at Gus' Pub for tomorrow. He said, "Yah, boy, I'm runnin' a bit late at work and was wondering if you guys would mind filling in for me and doing an acoustic set?" Thirty seconds of discussion settled it and we were off to play an acoustic show at the 'Just Us Cafe' in Halifax. (It should be noted that there is TWO of them in said city and this caused confusion for both patrons and performers). It was a wonderful evening. Just the kind of thing that makes you believe in the fates, a god or a higher power orchestrating this dance on earth. We played with the very cool, very kind and very talented Cas MacRae (sorry if we spelled your name wrong) as well as the exceptionally generous, gifted and lovely Christina Martin. We had such a great time that we asked everyone in the cafe to take a picture with us. That's the laughing, joyous group you see on the stairs.

Apart from the great show, it was Halifax (I'm told) as usual; torrential downpour, great east coast bargains and a lot of micro-brewery beer at a local pub (this resulted in an age old vinegar drinking contest between Alex & I that may be posted on the internet if we can edit out all the swearing and screaming - don't hold your breath). Also, like any good team on the road, the bumps and bruises are starting to show. That's a picture of dallas' rib-cage/hip where someone's guitar speared him. Rock and roll, doggie.

Tomorrow is a full day of rehearsal, finishing up some detailed work on the record (artwork, bg vocals and acoustic guitar) and a show in downtown Halifax. Un. Buh. Lievable.
